This is a 1917 Conn Wonder improved Alto Saxophone. This model predates the New Wonder and is from a time before Conn was an LTD. This one is from the Wonder Improveds last year of production, and with a serial number of 32, XXX, it is one of the last ones ever made. This one has the rare deluxe engraving, with floral patterns around the name.
The silver playing is in decent condition, with some gone around the thumb hook and on multiple keys. This model is known for its lack of pearls on key touch pieces, and the silver is gone from most of them. The gold wash bell is still very visible, though it no longer shines like it used to. The sax had a full repad about 2 years ago, its corks, felts, and oil were also changed. This sax plays very well, with a very vintage sound. It has a few minor dents throughout the body, with two larger ones on the bow, but none of them affect the sound. Around its characteristic engraving, the name Scott Allen is engraved, probably an old owner of it. The guides for the neck octave actuator are gone, but the octave mechanism works very well without them.
