There were lots of changes at the Conn factory at this time, and as the factory geared up to switch to the 6M design, they were still using some transitional parts, such as the teetering thumb rest. This hybrid may be the latest example of a transitional Conn. However, we see the tell-tale sign of the 6M- the naked lady engraving, in additional to the Left Hand Table and the Removable Bell Key Guard. The instrument has classic Conn rolled tone holes and an underslung double socket neck. This unique saxophone has received an Uberhaul, with restored engraving, a satin finish, and silver plating with a gold wash bell and matching gold plated needle springs.
The set screws were replaced with more reliable allen key hex screws. Key contacts were added under the G, side C, and side Bb keys.
Its set up with synthetic materials, all new pearls including convex pearls in the Bis Bb and Front F, and black RooPads with flat metal resonators. The most remarkable thing about this horn is the way it sounds. It sings with a sweet tone and that big bass-y Conn sound.
It plays fluidly and is perhaps the finest Conn Alto weve ever had come through the shop. Comes with a beat up non-original case, but we can order a nicer case for you if you desire.
All of our vintage saxophones undergo an Uberhaul unless otherwise stated. The workmanship on all Uberhauls is guaranteed.
All Uberhauled saxophones are eligible for a C. (Clean Oil and Adjust), which is our yearly service plan that restores instruments to a freshly Uberhauled state, and is also a great time to make further personal adjustments or modifications.
