A very rare, Conn New Wonder I fully burnished Gold Plated Virtuoso Deluxe Alto Saxophone on offer--manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana USA in late 1924/early 1925. Exquisite portrait engraving--period "flapper" side profile picture--with full pearl key touches plus nice engraving from the top of the bell, around the bow and well up the body tube. These horns were only available via Conn factory special order at the height of the "saxophone craze" during the 1920's & do not come up for sale very often. The Virtuoso Deluxe has plenty of finish wear with about 80% of the original gold plate present (see pics). The Virtuoso Deluxe body has many plating scratches as well and a couple of dings but no obvious re-soldering present on the body.
The neck also has minor dings but no signs of pull down and both ends are fully circular. The neck has a newer cork installed and the micro tuner is fully functional and articulates smoothly. The key pearls appear to be all original and fully present/functional with plenty of wear in evidence over the last 96 or so years of use-a nice player's horn in need of adjustment. The five pearl rollers are also fully functional and appear to be original to the horn. The neck strap ring shows plenty of wear but is still fully functional.Only the Horn, Neck & Case is included in this offer. The item "Conn Virtuoso Deluxe Alto Saxophone Gold Plate Full Pearls New Wonder NWI" is in sale since Sunday, November 8, 2020.
