The 2006 Reference 54 collector's series does not need any introduction. These things have been know to blow away many Mark VIs right here in my very home and around the world. The , 54 and the 36 are the collectables of the future. The SBA is sweet but does not have the fatness that the Sixes and the Reference series possess. The Sixes are sweet and fat but doesn't have the accuracy of the 54s and 36s.
Now the Series II & IIIs are not in this conversation but I once had a series II Tenor that blew all of them away and I traded it in to bring my father's SBA back into the family. (I have never blew a horn that had such a beautiful bottom again). That rascal was smooth deep and warm. Wish that I could have them both back.
Back to the subject at hand. This one just happenes to have "it" that's all. That is the "it" factor.
(You know what I mean). You see these horns were selected from among thousands of horns and hand engraved by selected artist and deemed special edition tribute saxophones. Not sure of the entire process but you can be assured that they didn't just choose any one of the production horns but selected according to their judgement since there would only be approximately 300 of each "Bird" editions made. You know that there are approximately 300 of these in the earth and this is one of them. I really don't want to sell this horn but because of hardship, I have made this horn available to you.
Just doing what I have to do. All of my saxophones are in absolute mint condition and are part of my hobby and are played once in a while and at home or in the house of my family and friends. I have been collecting and playing since 1980 and have had some of the most beautiful and presious horns in the world pass through my hands. This one was collected simply because it was available and made ready to my hands.(Could not pass it up). I guess that you can say I love saxophones both new and mint but mostly Selmer Paris. Now there is no fancy story to go with any of my horns. They are just hand selected and "choice".
