Arguably one of the greatest pro saxophones ever made! This vintage Conn 6M Lady Face alto saxophone is in excellent playing condition. This instrument serial number 342XXX dates from c. 1952 (during the heyday of band instrument manufacture in the USA).
Still in amazing shape for a horn this age. Mechanically sound and everything fitting together tightly. No previous damage or bad repairs. A few dings here and there but no bends or dent removal.
The neck was apparently bent and straightened at an earlier time. This neck has the double socket and a micro-tuner which works perfectly.
The pads are not new (the kind with the tiny metal resonator) but they are well seated and the horn plays perfectly. All the lacquer is worn off or possibly removed by the previous owner. Plays at A=440 with a lush velvety tone throughout. This is the sound that makes the 6M one of the most sought after horns ever made!
If you have always wanted a vintage Conn alto but thought you couldn't afford one, LOOK at this! A sound investment as well as a horn you will enjoy playing for years to come.
