This is a New Wonder series II, or as it's more commonly known, a "Chu Berry" model. The series II features improvements of the keywork, including elongated left hand palm keys, and a "fingernail file" G# key.

Like it's predecessor, it also has a front F button, G# trill key, and forked Eb mechanism. Other notable features are its rolled tone holes and micro-tuner neck. This one is stamped "L" below the serial number, indicating it is low pitch (the desired tuning for contemporary usage). It is not currently in playing condition, and will require a full overhaul to be made playable again. It is, however, an excellent restoration candidate, as it is in very good physical condition, with minimal mechanical wear.

The body is perfectly straight. There is not a dent, ding, or ping to be found. There are no signs of past dent work either. The key guards are all perfectly straight.

I don't see any re-soldered joints. The neck has not been pulled down, and its micro-tuner is turning easily.

The keys are all moving freely, and all but one are rebounding properly when released (the low D key is not, only because its spring is broken, a very minor issue). All but one of the original mother of pearl rollers are turning freely.

There is minimal mechanical wear to the keywork, so it will require little, if any, swedging. I suspect this horn was not played much, and then was put away for a long time, because it still has all of its original white leather pads. In some respects they don't even look all that bad, but you'll certainly want to have a full re-pad done, along with all new corks/felts. It will also need a a good cleaning and polishing. The silver plate finish is almost fully intact, but it is heavily tarnished, and very dirty.

Bottom line, this horn needs an overhaul, but it doesn't require any special work to repair damage or excessive wear. The mouthpiece needs a good cleaning, but is in excellent condition. The only other accessory is the original silver plated end plug.

Unfortunately I do not have a case for this sax. It will be packed well, in an oversized box, with plenty of bubble wrap though. This is one of the nicer Chu Berry altos I've come across. The dirt and tarnish belie the fact that this one is really in stellar unrestored condition. With a proper overhaul, this should be a killer horn!

This is due to lack of available transportation ie. If this potential wait presents a problem for you, please refrain from purchasing at this time. I sincerely apologize for this, unfortunately unavoidable, inconvenience.
