Buescher 400 Top Hat & Cane 1951 Alto Saxophone
In playable condition but would need an overhaul to be put into perfect shape. Fitted with MusicMedic chocolate roo pads (except one standard leather pad on side C), all pads are still in good shape and decent adjustment but with some leaks; needs tone hole / key cup leveling and key fitting to seal perfectly. Underslung octave mechanism as standard for this model. Most likely a Buescher factory relacquer according to pro techs who have looked at it, approx. Some dents that have been significantly reduced but still remain slightly, under palm D key foot and at bow of horn near the bottom edge of the low C tonehold (see pictures).
All key rollers freely moving. All solder joints intact; top joint of low Eb keyguard has been resoldered. Comes with original Buescher case, somewhat beat up, structurally sound but one latch spring broken and top handle is busted.
The tone of the Buescher 400 is unparalleled in my opinion, this one even in its pre-overhaul state outplays almost every other perfect-condition horn I've played.
