Buffet Sd-1 / Super Dynaction Transitional Alto Saxophone Plays Well Orgl Lacqr
BUFFET SUPER DYNACTION / S-1 TRANSITIONAL ALTO SAXOPHONE. SERIAL # 23666 Circa 1973 - 1974. This Vintage Buffet Alto Saxophone, from what I can determine, is a S-1 / Super Dynaction Transitonal Model. Buffet S-1 Model Saxophones were introduced in 1973 (Serial # 19787) through 1985 (Serial # 35733). Indications that this model Alto is a Super Dynaction / S-1 Transitional Model, are 1. The word Super Dynaction (see photos) is engraved on the body of this Alto, and 2. The S-1 Engineering Changes are included throughout the body of this Alto noticeably the non-Roller keys [Low Eb & C Key] & [Low Bb Key], and the Body Brace (see photos). There's lacquer wear on this Alto from normal use (See Photos).
There's also Lacquer wear on the inside lip of the Bell (See Photos). The Pro Player at the Music Store that repairs instruments for me, played/tested this Alto after it received a Professional Regulation, some new pads and a new neck cork, and shared with me it plays Very Well with a mixture of New and Current Pads. I too have played/tested this Alto and was impressed with its voice and key response. The case that housed this Alto when I bought it was tired, so I placed it into a Brand New / well deserved, Black Contoured BRASS BAGS Premium/well padded Zippered Leather Case.
