Selmer Mark VII Professional Alto Saxophone, Classic 70s Beauty with Original Mouthpiece and Hard Carrying Case Included. Designed by Michel Nouaux and Frederick Hemke under the direction of Jean Selmer, these saxophones have been played by greats such as John Coltrane, Kenny G, and Sonny Rollins.
Easy, quick fixes for any repairman. Make sure the plastic end cap is always in place when the neck isn't. The screw that tightens the neck was rattling around in the case. Bending the octave key back to where it should be is a relatively easy job.The G key does not move freely. Its spring (currently disconnected) is not the problem. The screws that hold the rod in are fine, and don't need lubrication. The G key's rod is bent, just needs to be removed and straightened.
This saxophone plays down to D, but the bottom few notes are difficult to play probably because of leaks (typical for very old pads). Most buyers should expect to replace pads on a 40-year-old "closet queen" with this much lacquer. Minor scratches on the bell.
