It is difficult to tell if this is a factory re-lacquered horn, or an all original "closet queen". The horn was lacquered with the pads on the horn already, which is how Selmer lacquered their horns back in the day. The engravings are crisp as well, so it leads me to believe this is an original lacquered horn. The horn experienced some kind of trauma along the way. It looked like something was dropped on the top of the bell, as when I got the horn, it was warped on both the outer and inner edges of the bell.
My repairman, who's one of the top metal-workers in region, removed the bell & bottom bow to straighten out the bell. In the below pictures, you can see the line on the inner & outer bell where the warp was straightened out. There is some minor lacquer damage from the unsoldering of the bell near the cuff / serial number. Lacquer was retouched in the area. The Super Balanced Action horns are some of the most sought after saxophones in the market. Many professional players find the SBA, which is the horn that preceded the legendary Mark VI, even better than the Mark VI models. There is a sweetness and resonance of the tone that is incomparable to any other horn ever made. As a Selmer Paris / Conn-Selmer endorsed artist, I can vouch for how incredible this horn is.
