Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. His listing is for a vintage Selmer (Paris) "Soloist" mouthpiece for alto saxophone. This is not the current re-make, but rather a true vintage 1950's era short scroll shank mouthpiece.
This was the first iteration of the Soloist line, which were included with the early'5 digit' Mark VI horns. This is the most desirable of the scroll shank variations. I can say from experience that they consistently outplay the later versions. This one is a C, with the facing in original condition, and measuring spot on spec at. Please note that this mouthpiece previously had a contact microphone installed on it.
This was relatively common back in the 1970's, and involved drilling a small hole in the mouthpiece into which the microphone would go. The microphone has long since been removed, and the hole plugged with epoxy and smoothed. The mouthpiece once again functions as normal. In picture #2 you can see on the side of the mouthpiece where the hole was plugged.
This mouthpiece is in very good condition. The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth, and original. There is just a hint of tooth wear on the beak, but certainly nothing that requires repair.I t has been cleaned/sanitized, so it is ready to use. This is due to lack of available transportation ie. If this potential wait presents a problem for you, please refrain from purchasing at this time. I sincerely apologize for this, unfortunately unavoidable, inconvenience.
